The Curious Cat Bookshop
The Curious Cat Bookshop was born out of a simple yet profound love for books and cats.
Opened in 2024, James and Lisa opened the Bookstore in the Market Town of Frodsham as they believe in the power of stories to transport, transform, and transcend.
You may find one of James and Lisa’s cats in the Bookstore on some days. Our aim is to serve Frodsham and the surrounding area as the Local Indie Bookshop, championing new authors, the love of reading and how books can bring us all closer together.

WHO WILL YOU FIND IN THE BOOKSHOP?
JAMES CALDWELL
What to ask me about
“I try and read a variety of books, however I do love a good thriller especially if it has some Historical Fiction aspect to it. I like a good Horror and Fantasy book as well and like to find some new Fiction from upcoming or indie authors. The number one thing I’m loving is the cozy fantasy books that are coming out of Japan at the moment!”

What to ask me about
“I read mostly non-fiction, largely nature writing. I can suggest you a lot of books about Fungi, Trees and Lichen! I love reading books from smaller publishers as well as magical realisms like Matt Haig. I organise a Fantasy and Sci-Fi Book Club for the shop and enjoy coming up with suggestions for this. I’ll definitely try some of the good psychological thrillers that come in too.”

Introducing the Cats you may find in the bookshop.
We aren’t a cat cafe or a place where cats are part of the “entertainment” but often one of the cats will join us in the Bookshop. They come and go as often as they like and are family cats so come home with us at night. Whilst quite relaxed we do ask if the cats are in the shop that are here to chillout and enjoy the vibes.
